City of Clearwater welcomes Phillies fans to Spring Training at Tampa International Airport

Cheers, high fives, goodies, mascots and more filled Southwest Airlines terminal this morning to welcome fans heading to Clearwater just in time for the Philadelphia Phillies first spring training game. The Phillies will be hosting the Toronto Blue Jays at Bright House Field on Tuesday, March 1 for their Grapefruit Season Home Opener. This will also kick-off the 70th Phillies spring training in Clearwater.

Fans were greeted by the Phillie Phanatic (often named as the best mascot in the major leagues), Phinley the Clearwater Threshers mascot, Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos and other Clearwater officials. Phillies caps, Phanatic dangle hats, Go Phillies cheer cards, and other surprises were handed to fans as they got off the plane.
