Water Recreation

Home to the largest fishing fleet on the west coast of Florida, the Clearwater Marina is a major component of the recreational core. Berthed in the marina are boats that offer a myriad of activities: fishing, sightseeing, sailing, speed, "hands on" marine life adventures, dining and dancing, parasailing and more.

A variety of sightseeing boats offer unique ways to experience the Clearwater and Clearwater Beach area. Sail away under billowing sails in true luxury on three-masted schooners; thrill to an exhilarating ride on the world's largest speedboat; cruise the gulf on a pirate ship, bringing to mind the swashbuckling days of pirates and damsels in distress. Observe the magnificence of dolphins frolicking in the waves or a spectacular sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Dinner-dance cruises promise evenings to remember. A ferry service provides excursions to natural locales such as Caladesi Island, the #1 beach in the United States.

Become a marine biologist on one of several marine life experience cruises. Kayak through Clearwater bay islands, bird rookeries and boiling springs and see dolphins, great blue herons and more. Charter your own private boat with a captain to take you fishing, snorkeling, shelling or to your own private island.

Dive on more than ten artificial inshore and offshore reefs along the Gulf coast of Pinellas County. These artificial reefs are individually designed with different sized openings for different sized fish and especially attractive to grouper, snapper, grunt, mackerel, amber jack, cobia, barracuda and bait fish. Home to coral, sponge, and a wide variety of other undersea creatures, explore World War II landing crafts, an airplane and high profile pyramids. All the reefs are specifically designed to attract fish. Ideal snorkeling reefs are located closer to shore.
