Major league baseball is year-round in Clearwater. Clearwater is proud to
host the
Philadelphia Phillies spring training. The Phillies are the oldest,
continuous, one-name, one-city franchise in all of professional sports and
have been in Clearwater since 1947. In addition to the major league team,
Clearwater is home to the Class-A
Clearwater Phillies of the Florida State League. The
Toronto Blue Jays spend their spring in Dunedin and the
New York Yankees play in Tampa; in fact, six additional spring training
teams are located within one hour of Pinellas County. The Major League
Baseball
Tampa Bay Devil Rays call St. Petersburg's Tropicana Field home the rest
of the year. The
Philadelphia Phillies built a new home in 2004. The
Community Sports Complex located just north of Drew Street on U.S. Hwy
19, accommodates approximately 7,000 fans in fixed seats and another 1,000
fans in grass seating. This state of the art complex has increased fan
amenities such as expanded concessions and food court, suites, and a
children's play area. In addition to hosting the Phillies, the facility is
used for City-sponsored special events, Florida State League baseball and
regional tournaments and leagues.
Travel with your favorite team to cheer them on against football's
Tampa Bay Buccaneers and hockey's
Tampa Bay Lightning. The Big Ten/SEC college football challenge results
in a week of fun activities, including Beach Bowl Day, culminating at the
Outback Bowl New Year's Day.
