Three miles of boardwalk trails throughout 245 acres of natural beauty representing six different Florida ecosystems. Guided tours are available.

8,500 acres set aside for preservation, research and environmental education which is home to more than 160 bird species, 20 amphibians, 50 reptiles and 40 mammals, many of them rare or listed as protected in Florida and/or the nation. Free guided hikes are offered on Saturdays.

A typical Gulf Coast barrier island with white sand beaches on the gulf side and mangrove swamps on the bay side.

A 51-acre environmental and energy education center. With a lake, upland forest and wetlands, the park showcases most of the plant and aquatic animal species native to the area. A trail guide is available for those who would like a more in-depth tour.

Three hundred and sixty acre park with nature trails and elevated boardwalk. Alligators, turtles, water birds and small mammals can be observed in their natural habitat.
Weedon Island Preserve, 1500 Weedon Drive N.E., St. Petersburg (727) 579-8360.
A 45’ observation tower overlooks the 1,500 island acres; 9 miles of hiking trails and 4 miles of canoe trails are interspersed through the preserve; platforms extend over Tampa Bay and mangrove lakes; and over a mile of elevated boardwalk all provide an intimate view of the flora and fauna of Florida including birds, fish, snakes, raccoons, dolphins, bobcats, deer and otters.
